Yesterday dawned rainy...and stayed that way all day. We, however, were undaunted. We struck out mid-morning, needing to purchase canned dog food for Peggy, the Bull Mastiff in our care. We sloshed to the Aston market and back again. Then again, around 1:30, we decided to strike out to Aston Pottery for a late lunch. By this time, the rain was coming down in virtual buckets. We enjoyed a lunch of quiche and giant lattes, and headed back to the house, getting thoroughly soaked in spite of our rain jackets and brolly (umbrella). Throwing our wet clothes in the dryer, naps were in order.
Today was much more promising. Simon and Joanne returned around noon from their anniversary getaway at Hartwell House, which stretches back almost a thousand years to the reign of Edward the Confessor. Set on 90 acres, it was opened as a hotel in 1989.
This afternoon, they drove us to the Cotswold Woolen Factory in Filkens, which I had been to in March. But this time, they had the museum open. After oohing and aahing at the beautiful clothes (I loved the green coat, but seriously...I live in Arizona!) we wandered around and had tea in their tearoom.
Tomorrow Amy and I leave the Cotswolds and take the train to London. After stashing our luggage at our hotel (only a block away from Paddington Station), we take the train to Windsor Castle.
